I have always been the type to shut my eyes tight and not open them until baby is born, haha. Everyone is different, though. Some really need the support and words of affirmation, others need total silence. Some are very vocal through contractions, others don't make a sound. I found that being vocal through the contractions really helped me stay on top of the pain. You just kind of ride each contraction like a wave. You can do it! The good things is that God totally cares about this birthing experience! Ask him for His help, and he will see you through. Having a midwife makes a huge difference, too. You get their undivided attention, and when they are calm, it helps you be calm. My last two births were totally different than my first, in the best of ways, and I truly believe having a midwife made the biggest difference. You got this, girl!
